When Joshua Weissman got tired of being bullied as a teenager, he took matters into his own hands. Frustrated from being overweight, feeling sick, unattractive and ridiculed, he decided to explore a new way of looking at food. When the fad diets and pre-made weight loss meals didn’t work, he researched healthier ways to lose weight. At fifteen years old, using his creative talents Joshua rediscovered his childhood passion for food and cooking so he could shift away from the food habits that led to his unhappiness.
Describing it as a grueling year and a half, what Joshua did was focus on real food, and in doing so he lost over 100 pounds. Starting with the philosophy of the Weston Price foundation, then moving into a paleo lifestyle, the focus was always on whole foods. Most of his success came from the paleo way of eating which eliminates grains, legumes, gluten, refined sugars and dairy.
Not only has Joshua succeeded with his mission to lose weight but he also receives daily recognition and praise from all the kids that used to tease or torture him. Now he is a highly sought after resource fielding questions about healthy eating from classmates of all types. Concocting delicious meals for his friends and family brings Joshua a sense of great accomplishment and immense joy.
In his cookbook, Joshua shares his inpiring story, changed philosophy on food and of course many of his favorite recipes. Along side every recipe are gorgeous photos of Joshua’s food creations. Bursting with creativity, he is an inspiration to anyone who enjoys cooking. With over one hundred recipes that are all free of gluten, grains, and processed sugars, his book focuses on cooking with real food while eating for health and happiness.
What I love about Joshua’s story is how he shifted his mindset and is now a passionate clean eater. In wanting to change his circumstances, he used the power of food to transform his life. Just look at his adorable face with the smile that exudes pride and love. Whether you are looking to eat real food, lose weight, follow a paleo diet or not, The Slim Palate will make an excellent addition to your cook book collection.
Now, I’d love to hear from you! What’a your favorite cookbook?
