On our way to visit my mom in Florida, Kelly and I stopped at Whole Foods in Miami. Our goal was stock up on some food for the week ahead. But after traveling all day, we also needed some nourishment. So I ventured over to the juice bar, but I didn’t want juice or a fruit smoothie. I waned something more “meaty”, something with more balance than just fruit.
Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the smoothie I ordered, but it was a combination of veggies mixed with some spirulina and other nourishing ingredients. It was so good, I’m still dreaming about it!
This recipe is not the same, but it’s pretty darn good. Fruit and honey are optional but they give it a nice hint of sweet without being too much. It’s important to add the oil nut butter in order to have the smoothie give you sustainable energy.
